I'm Angelo Galeano in the picture you can see me and my business partner Marco Montano. We are location sound engineers. We have the need to protect our microphones.

Often in our travels, our Sennheiser MKH 416 and Schoeps CMIT-5U are at risk of breaking.

The original microphones cases were too bulky and travelling with backpack equipment is always a big risk, especially in documentary work. The risk is that they could be crushed or become wet during winter work on snow.

We concluded that we need a slim cover to preserve and protect our mics, but we didn’t find anything to satisfy us on the market.

So we thought we would make a case that solved our problems!

We designed and made TUBO

(European Union Intellectual Property Office Registration N 005727500-0001)

TUBO is a cylinder case made by a resistant and very thin polymer plastic. It resists crushing, It can be trampled on, It can be hit by the wheels of a car, and it can sink down in snow or in water but we know that inside the microphone will be safe and dry.

TUBO is designed for the Sennheiser MKH 416, Schoeps CMIT-5U, Rode NTG 2 - NTG 3 - Sennheiser ME66+K6, Sennheiser MKH 816 and similar half-shotgun and shotgun.

We can carry our microphones safely in backpacks occupying a small space and we know that in 4.000 years, when we are no longer here and other civilizations have taken our place, somebody will find the TUBO and inside they will find a perfectly functioning shotgun or half-shotgun microphone!

Your microphone is your samurai sword, it's your magic wand that catches sounds, choose to guard it and protect it from everything that can break your wonderful (and expensive) tool.

Fight moisture and save your microphone

In the TUBO design, we have given enormous importance to the problem of humidity, which together with the crushing, is the first cause of deterioration of microphones.

Moisture in the form of water vapor can penetrate into the casings even through the seals.

If due to a rapid temperature drop or due to rainfall, the walls of the tube cool rapidly, the temperature difference can lead to a vacuum (or a vacuum condition between the inside of the tube and the external environment), the pressure tends to self-compensate, so that the external moist air that penetrates inside through the gasket, turning into condensation.

If this is repeated several times, there is an accumulation of condensation water, which represents a danger of corrosion on the electrical contacts.

We used a technology developed by Jacob GmbH Elektrotechnische Fabrik

This special pressure compensation valve cancels these hazards.

In the base body of the pressure compensating element there is a highly breathable, but watertight membrane, which prevents moisture from the external environment, infiltrates inside the casing, and which allows a constant pressure compensation between the surrounding environment and the tube itself. This protects your precious microphones and their electronic and electrical components over time.
